Quicken Business and Personal costs $4.99 a month billed annually for the first year, then $8.99 a month ($107.88 a year) at the regular price. Quicken Classic Business & Personal, the desktop program, costs $10.99 a month billed annually for the first year, then $12.49 a month ($149.88 a year). Both promotional rates apply only to new memberships bought directly from Quicken through November 22, 2026, 11:59 PT.

Every Quicken figure on this page was read from the prices quicken.com serves to US buyers on its product and comparison pages. QuickBooks figures are Intuit's US list prices. Sales tax is extra on all of them.

The name causes most of the confusion. Quicken sells two different products called Business & Personal. One is a cloud app that runs in a browser and on a phone, built on the same platform as Quicken Simplifi. The other is the long-running Windows and Mac desktop program, which Quicken now calls Classic Business & Personal and which replaced the old Quicken Home & Business. They do not share a data file, they are priced differently, and they renew differently. If you are a freelancer, a landlord or a small business owner pricing them this week, the table below is the short version.

The gap between the two Quicken products is bigger than it looks on the monthly figure. Over three years, assuming renewals at today's regular price, the cloud plan costs about $275.64 and the Classic desktop plan about $431.64. That is still well under QuickBooks, which is the point at which many Quicken business users start asking whether they should pay for Quicken at all.

If you already know the answer and the business half of your Quicken file is going to QuickBooks, the converter at the top of this page turns the QIF files Quicken Classic exports into .qbo files QuickBooks accepts. Try it on one of your own files before you renew anything.

A real .qbo file QuickBooks accepts

Built for the QIF files Quicken and finance tools actually export, checked before it exports.

Reconciliation

Every total checked against your file

The converter adds up the transactions it parsed and matches that to your file total before you export, so nothing is silently dropped.

Web Connect

A genuine .qbo, not a renamed QIF

Valid OFX 1.02 with QuickBooks Web Connect headers. Online and Desktop import it as a standard bank feed.

QIF tags

Your QIF tags read for you

Date, payee, and amount are read straight from the QIF tags, so there is nothing to map and no layout to match.

Volume

A year of QIF files in one batch

Bulk upload for catch-up and cleanup work. Each file gets its own reconciliation check and its own exports.

Dates and amounts

Dates and amounts fixed for you

Mixed date formats, apostrophe years, currency symbols, and split lines in a QIF are cleaned up and summed before the .qbo is built.

Exports

Excel and CSV in the same download

One conversion, three files: the .qbo for QuickBooks, an XLSX to review, and a CSV for everything else.

How to convert your QIF to QuickBooks

Three steps. No column-mapping wizard.

1

Upload your QIF file

Drag in a .qif export from Quicken, your bank, or another finance tool. Any QIF type works.

2

Review the reconciled rows

Every transaction is parsed and checked against your file total. You see the rows before exporting.

3

Import into QuickBooks

Download the .qbo and import it as a Web Connect bank feed. Excel and CSV are in the same download.

How much does Quicken Business and Personal cost?

Quicken Business & Personal, the cloud product, costs $4.99 a month billed annually in its first year when you buy it directly from Quicken during the current offer, and $8.99 a month after that. Because it bills a year at a time, you pay roughly $59.88 up front and then $107.88 at each renewal unless Quicken changes the price. The membership renews automatically at the then-current rate, and you can cancel before the renewal date.

Quicken's fine print says the discount is calculated on the annual price, so the charge can differ by a few cents from the monthly figure times twelve. Both Business & Personal products carry Quicken's 30 day money back guarantee on direct purchases.

How much does Quicken Classic Business and Personal cost?

Quicken Classic Business & Personal costs $10.99 a month billed annually for the first year, about $131.88 charged at checkout, and $12.49 a month ($149.88 a year) at the regular price after that. It is the most expensive Classic plan and the only one with business and rental tools. A bundle with Quicken LifeHub runs $12.99 a month in year one and $16.48 a month after that.

Classic Business & Personal is sold for both Windows and Mac. Several features are Windows only, including the tenant and lease tracking, the rental document storage and the Lifetime Planner, so a landlord on a Mac is paying the same price for less. Check the feature list for your platform before you buy.

What is the difference between Quicken Business and Personal and Classic Business and Personal?

Quicken Business & Personal is a cloud app for web and mobile, and Classic Business & Personal is a desktop program that keeps your data file on your own computer. The cloud product is cheaper, handles up to ten businesses and sends invoices with online payments. The desktop product adds rental property management, check writing, deeper investment tools and the full Classic report set.

The last row matters more than people expect. Quicken's Data Access Guarantee lets lapsed Classic Deluxe, Premier and Business & Personal users keep viewing, editing and exporting their file, while downloads, mobile sync and support stop. Quicken lists the cloud Business & Personal product as excluded from that guarantee, so export your records before you cancel it.

Is Quicken Business and Personal worth it for a small business?

Quicken Business & Personal is worth it for a sole proprietor or side business that mainly needs to separate business from personal spending, send a few invoices and hand a Schedule C report to a tax preparer. It is a weaker fit once you have employees, sales tax, inventory, a business bank loan or an accountant who expects to work inside QuickBooks.

A good test is who reads your numbers. If the only reader is you and your tax preparer once a year, $107.88 a year buys a lot. If a CPA, a lender or a partner needs a proper balance sheet and a general ledger they can audit, the cheapest QuickBooks plan usually pays for itself in saved cleanup hours at year end, even at $240 to $456 a year.

Does Quicken Business and Personal do payroll?

No. Neither Quicken Business & Personal nor Classic Business & Personal runs payroll, withholds payroll taxes or files Forms 941 and W-2. You can record payroll you run elsewhere as transactions, but the calculation and filing have to happen in a payroll service. If you are about to hire your first employee, that is usually the moment to move the business books to QuickBooks.

Is Quicken Business and Personal cheaper than QuickBooks?

Yes, by a wide margin. The cloud Business & Personal plan is $107.88 a year at its regular price, while QuickBooks Solopreneur lists at $240 a year and QuickBooks Online Simple Start at $456 a year. Classic Business & Personal at $149.88 a year also costs less than either QuickBooks plan, before any QuickBooks discount.

SoftwareYear oneYears two and three at regular priceThree-year total
Quicken Business & Personal (cloud)$59.88$215.76$275.64
Quicken Classic Business & Personal$131.88$299.76$431.64
QuickBooks Solopreneur$240$480$720
QuickBooks Online Simple Start$456$912$1,368

The table uses list prices and assumes no further price changes. QuickBooks often discounts the first months for new subscribers, which narrows the gap in year one but not over three years. Cheaper is not the same as sufficient, though: what you are really comparing is a personal finance program with business categories against a double-entry accounting system.

Can I use Quicken Business and Personal for rental property?

Yes, and that is the strongest reason to pick the Classic desktop version. Classic Business & Personal tracks income and expenses per property, stores tenant documents, records leases, deposits and rent payments, and produces a Schedule E report. The tenant and lease features are Windows only. The cloud product tracks rental income and expenses and reports on Schedule E, without the tenant management.

Landlords with more than a handful of units, or with a property manager sending owner statements, often outgrow both and keep the rental books in QuickBooks instead. We compare the options for that case on Quicken Rental Property Manager and QuickBooks for rental property.

Can I switch from Quicken Business and Personal to QuickBooks?

Yes, but QuickBooks will not open a Quicken data file or import a QIF file. The workable route is to export each business account from Quicken Classic as a QIF file, convert it to a .qbo Web Connect file, and upload that file to the matching bank account in QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop. Transactions arrive in the bank feed for review, with payees and memos intact.

That is the job the converter at the top of this page does. It reads .qif and .txt exports, writes balanced .qbo files, and on paid plans handles up to 25 files in one batch, which matters when a business has a checking account, a savings account and two credit cards with several years each. Quicken Classic for Windows exports QIF directly; Quicken for Mac has not exported QIF since the 2007 version, so Mac users usually export from a Windows copy of the file. The steps are on how to export QIF from Quicken and Quicken Home and Business to QuickBooks.

Most people split the file rather than move all of it. The personal accounts stay in Quicken Deluxe or move to a cheaper budgeting app, and only the business accounts go to QuickBooks. QIFQBO Starter is $49 for one month with 100 conversions, which covers a typical small business history in a single sitting, and Excel, CSV and QFX output are on the paid plans as well.

Does Quicken Business and Personal have a free trial?

Quicken does not offer a free trial of either Business & Personal product. What it offers instead is a 30 day money back guarantee on memberships bought directly from Quicken, which works like a paid trial: you pay the first year up front and can ask for a refund inside 30 days. Purchases through a retailer or app store follow that seller's refund rules.

Why did my Quicken Business and Personal renewal go up?

Your renewal went up because the first-year price is a promotion and the renewal is charged at the regular price. On the cloud plan that is the jump from $4.99 to $8.99 a month, and on Classic Business & Personal from $10.99 to $12.49 a month, both billed for a full year at once. Quicken's terms say membership renews every year at the then-current price.

Existing members sometimes get a retention offer when they contact support before the charge posts, but the new-member discount does not apply to a renewal. We collected what tends to work on Quicken renewal discount. If the renewal is what pushed you to look around, the full list of Quicken plans and their regular prices is on Quicken pricing.

Which Business and Personal plan should I buy?

Buy the cloud Quicken Business & Personal if you want the lowest price, work from a phone or browser, run more than one small business and mostly need invoicing and Schedule C reports. Buy Classic Business & Personal if you manage rental property on Windows, want your data file on your own computer, or already have years of history in Quicken Classic you do not want to migrate.

Skip both if an accountant already keeps your business books in QuickBooks, if you are about to run payroll, or if a lender is asking for reviewed financial statements. In that case keep the personal side in Quicken and send the business accounts to QuickBooks with a .qbo file.
