QuickBooks Online Plus costs $140 a month at Intuit's US list price, which is $1,680 a year. New subscribers can usually take 50 percent off the first three months ($70 a month) instead of the 30-day free trial, which brings year one to $1,470. Plus includes five users and two accountant logins, and it is the cheapest QuickBooks Online plan with inventory, project profitability, budgets and class and location tracking.
Those numbers were read from quickbooks.intuit.com/pricing and the Plus product page and reflect Intuit's August 1, 2026 increase, which moved Plus from $115 to $140 a month. Payroll, payment processing and time tracking are separate charges, so the $140 is the accounting subscription only.
Most people pricing Plus are not asking whether QuickBooks is worth having. They already know they need it. The real question is which rung to stand on: Essentials at $85 is $55 a month cheaper, and Advanced at $340 is $200 a month more. The table below puts every route to Plus side by side, including the two discounts that actually last longer than three months.
The intro offer saves $210 in year one (three months at $70 instead of $140) and nothing after that. ProAdvisor pricing saves $504 every year for as long as your accountant holds the billing, which is why bookkeeping firms route almost every Plus client that way. The payroll bundle price comes from Intuit's payroll pricing page, where it also runs at half price for three months.

Built for the QIF files Quicken and finance tools actually export, checked before it exports.
The converter adds up the transactions it parsed and matches that to your file total before you export, so nothing is silently dropped.
Valid OFX 1.02 with QuickBooks Web Connect headers. Online and Desktop import it as a standard bank feed.
Date, payee, and amount are read straight from the QIF tags, so there is nothing to map and no layout to match.
Bulk upload for catch-up and cleanup work. Each file gets its own reconciliation check and its own exports.
Mixed date formats, apostrophe years, currency symbols, and split lines in a QIF are cleaned up and summed before the .qbo is built.
One conversion, three files: the .qbo for QuickBooks, an XLSX to review, and a CSV for everything else.
Three steps. No column-mapping wizard.
Drag in a .qif export from Quicken, your bank, or another finance tool. Any QIF type works.
Every transaction is parsed and checked against your file total. You see the rows before exporting.
Download the .qbo and import it as a Web Connect bank feed. Excel and CSV are in the same download.

QuickBooks Online Plus is $140 per month at the current US list price. With Intuit's introductory offer the first three months are $70 each, and from month four you pay $140. Sales tax is added where your state charges it. Intuit can change the rate at renewal, as it did on August 1, 2026, so budget on $140 rather than the promotional figure.
A full year of Plus at list price is $1,680 (12 months at $140). With the three-month half-price offer, year one comes to $1,470. Intuit's main pricing page bills QuickBooks Online monthly, so treat $1,680 as your ongoing annual cost. Through an accountant on ProAdvisor Preferred Pricing the same year costs $1,176.
Yes. For billing dates on or after August 1, 2026, Plus went from $115 to $140 a month, an increase of $25 a month or $300 a year (about 22 percent). Essentials rose from $75 to $85 and Advanced from $275 to $340 at the same time, while Simple Start stayed at $38. The gap between Essentials and Plus widened from $40 to $55 a month, so picking the right plan is worth more than it used to be.
Plus includes everything in Essentials (enhanced reports, bills, employee time on invoices) and adds inventory tracking, project profitability with job costing, budgeting, and class and location tracking. Intuit also lists 1099 contractor management, receipt capture from your phone, time entry, sales tax tracking and online invoice payments on the Plus page.
The features that justify the price are the four Essentials does not have. If you sell physical products and need quantity on hand and cost of goods sold, you need Plus. If you bill by job or project and want to see profit per job, you need Plus. If you split results by department, property, store or region with classes or locations, you need Plus. If none of those apply, Essentials does the same bookkeeping for $55 less.
QuickBooks Online Plus includes five billable users plus two accountant users who do not count against the five. Intuit also lets you add report-only and time-tracking-only users, who can view reports or enter hours without using a full seat. If a sixth person needs to post transactions, the next step is Advanced, which includes 25 users and three accountants.
Plus caps the chart of accounts at 250 accounts and allows 40 classes and locations combined, not 40 of each. Those are the two limits that catch growing businesses. Advanced removes both caps. Users are the third limit (five on Plus). Intuit's usage limits help article lists the numbers, and QuickBooks will not let you downgrade to Plus while you are over any of them.
The 250 account cap matters most to people migrating from QuickBooks Desktop or from Quicken Home and Business, where it is common to have several hundred accounts and subaccounts. Count yours before you buy. Merging a few dozen expense subaccounts is usually easier than paying $200 more a month for Advanced.
| Decision point | Essentials ($85) | Plus ($140) | Advanced ($340) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Billable users | 3 | 5 | 25 |
| Accountant users | 2 | 2 | 3 |
| Chart of accounts | 250 | 250 | Unlimited |
| Classes and locations | Not included | 40 combined | Unlimited |
| Inventory tracking | No | Yes | Yes |
| Project profitability and job costing | No | Yes | Yes, plus advanced project financials |
| Budgeting | No | Yes | Yes |
| Custom user permissions, workflow automation, batch invoices and expenses, Spreadsheet Sync | No | No | Yes |
| Cost per year at list | $1,020 | $1,680 | $4,080 |
No. Payroll is a separate subscription with a base fee and a per-employee charge. Intuit sells Plus and payroll together as Workforce Premium plus Plus at $203 a month plus $10 per employee, half price for the first three months. Plus does track 1099 contractor payments without payroll, so a business that pays only contractors may not need payroll at all.
Yes. Plus is the lowest QuickBooks Online plan that tracks inventory. It records quantity on hand, purchase orders and cost of goods sold using FIFO, and it will flag low stock. It is built for a business with a modest product list, not a warehouse operation. If you need multiple warehouses, bin locations or serial numbers, plan on Advanced with an inventory add-on or a dedicated inventory app.
Plus costs $140 a month against $85 for Essentials, a difference of $660 a year. You get two more users (five instead of three) and the four features Essentials lacks: inventory, project profitability, budgets, and classes and locations. If you need even one of those four, Plus is the right buy. If you only need a third login, Essentials is enough. Our QuickBooks Essentials vs Plus comparison walks through the decision line by line.
Advanced costs $340 a month, $200 more than Plus, or $2,400 more per year. The upgrade buys 25 users instead of five, unlimited accounts, classes and locations, custom user permissions, workflow automation, batch invoices and expenses, Spreadsheet Sync, Priority Circle support with training, and Bill Pay Elite with 1099 e-filing included. Most businesses move up for seats or limits, not features. See QuickBooks Online Plus vs Advanced for when the jump pays off.
Yes, three, and they do not stack. Intuit's intro offer takes 50 percent off the first three months at checkout. ProAdvisor Preferred Pricing takes 30 percent off list ($98 a month) for as long as an accountant manages the subscription. Nonprofits can get Plus through TechSoup. Starting the 30-day trial usually means giving up the intro offer, so if you already know you need Plus, buying directly saves more. More detail on each route is on our QuickBooks Online discount page.
Eligible 501(c)(3) organizations can get a one-year QuickBooks Online Plus subscription with five users through TechSoup for an $80 administrative fee, against $1,680 at list. The fee is charged again each year to renew, and eligibility is checked by TechSoup. Advanced is offered the same way for a $170 fee. Nothing else comes close to that price for a qualifying nonprofit.
Not directly. QuickBooks Online Plus imports bank files in QBO (Web Connect), QFX, OFX and CSV through Banking, then Upload from file, but it will not open a Quicken data file or read a QIF export. That is the wall people hit when they move a Quicken Home and Business register or years of Quicken history into a new Plus company.
The working route is to export each Quicken account to QIF and convert it to QBO, which QuickBooks Online reads natively. Our QIF to QBO converter does that with a balanced file and stable transaction IDs, so re-uploading the same file does not double post. The full process for a Quicken move is on Quicken to QuickBooks Online, and you can test three files of up to 100 transactions with a free account before you pick a paid plan.
Plus is worth $140 a month when you carry inventory, bill by project, or report by class or location, because Essentials cannot do those at any price. It is not worth it for a service business that only needs a few logins and standard reports; Essentials covers that for $1,020 a year. Businesses that outgrow five users or the 250 account cap should price Advanced, or route billing through an accountant to cut either plan by 30 percent.
No. QuickBooks Online Plus is a cloud plan. QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus was a Windows desktop subscription that Intuit stopped selling to new US customers on September 30, 2024. If you are leaving Desktop Pro Plus, Online Plus is the usual landing spot when you track inventory or jobs, and Essentials when you do not. Our QuickBooks Desktop discontinued page covers the support dates.
Yes. You can upgrade to Advanced at any time from account settings and your data stays in place; the new price applies from the change. Downgrading to Essentials works too, but only when you are within its limits, which means no more than three users and no classes or locations in use. Inventory and project data stop being available after a downgrade, so export what you need first.
